You have your bullet vibes and your wands. Your dildos are your butt plugs and anal beads. And your drilldos. A drilldo sounds exactly like it — a drill attached to a dildo. This is the drill that you use to make furniture or install your air conditioner. People around the world are wailing and clutching their legs. This over-the-top sex toy has been around for a while, but it’s gained notoriety in recent years. And it’s easy to see why — who wouldn’t be fascinated?

Stephen Arnott, in his 2002 book ‘Sex: A User’s Guide”, classifies the drilldo among other types of sex machines. This category also includes the more well-known Sybian toy. A rideable saddle that has a vibrating dildo sticking out the top, and an identical toy called a “f*cksaw” (a dildo attached with an electric saw).

Sometimes drilldos can be purchased as a complete kit or DIY. The kits typically contain a drill, a drillbit with a plastic attachment, and different-sized dildos that fit the attachment. Other kits contain just a dildo and the drillbit attachment, and are meant to be used with a regular drill. You might be able to see that these drills can cause pain and even death. A 2009 incident resulted in a woman being seriously injured after attaching a dildo with a power saw.

Drilldos are a popular toy that has a long history within the kink and BDSM communities. However, they have only recently been in the spotlight. The Addiction Demon is seen wearing a strap-on drilldo in  American Horror Story Hotel. There’s a move called the Drilldo in the video game Bulletstorm. Drilldos have been mentioned on the podcasts the Cleancast and My Dad Wrote A Porno. Drilldos have been featured on a number of lists of the most bizarre sex toys, including Cracked’s “5 Baffling Uses Of Sexual Toys That Prove Humanity is Doomed”. A drilldo doodle was included in the “Flirtmoji” viral designs. Drilldos are also common in porn. However, you will have to search for them.

Drilldos are real. What’s it like to use one? Kink-positive sex education website Kinkly points out that “some say the drilldo provides greater stimulation than a traditional Dildo.” Others are not stimulated by the rotating motion which is quite different from the thrusting during sex.”

Dave, the sex reviewer behind The Big Gay Review’s website, tested out the Drilldo 6-Piece kit in 2017. He wasn’t impressed. “It did not feel good, I have to admit.” He wrote that it hurt. “It felt like it was churning me insides.” He said that spinning and thrusting were worse. But this could be the right piece of kit for your needs.

However, don’t attempt to make a drilldo yourself. You should also remember that all drilldos, even those made professionally, can be dangerous. Kinkly says, “Stop using your drilldo when you see sparks emanating from it.”
